Some interesting observations I found about the current state of the games industry:

• Senior developers are highly sought after.
• Gameplay programmers are in demand perhaps due to the fact that many companies have switched to engines and tools.
• Console platforms seem to be hiring more than mobile ones. This could be due to the fact that mobile developers are mostly startups.
